SSEI participates in Goal Structuring Notation Standard

SSEI is currently undertaking work to support the standardisation of assurance arguments and SSEI representatives have participated in a consensus group from amongst industry and academia to develop a standard for the particular argument notation 'Goal Structuring Notation'. The draft interim standard has been released for public comment and is available from: http://www.goalstructuringnotation.info

SSEI Conference

The SSEI conference was held on 19th November 2009, with over 200 attendees. Copies of the slides used in the plenary sessions are available here. A conference outcomes brochure is also due to be published in January 2010.

SSEI's First Standard of Best Practice

SSEI has issued our first Standard of Best Practice on the topic of 'Software in the Context of DS 00-56 Issue 4', which is available here. This document has been prepared by experts form the MoD, Industry and Academia within the SSEI team, however it is intended to be a 'living' document and therefore to enable us to benefit from experience of its use and expertise in the wider community, we welcome feedback and comments at any time.

SSEI Annual Conference

The SSEI Annual Conference will be held at MOD Abbey Wood on 19th November 2009. Andrew Tyler, COO DE&S will be the keynote speaker. The conference will be open to Core and Associate SSEI members and MOD personnel. Attendance is free, but places are limited. Registration opening date and further details to follow.

Phase II Research Tasks Announced

SSEI is pleased to announce the launch of 8 new research tasks as part of 'Phase II', see research index. Further tasks will be announced once contract negotiations are complete.

Associate Membership Fee Suspended

To facilitate broader participation, the SSEI Management Team have agreed to temporarily accept 'contribution in kind' of attendance at SSEI Special Interest Group meetings in lieu of an Associate Membership Fee. See Associate Membership web page for more details

SSEI at the SCSC Event - 'Safety-Critical Systems - the Tools and Culture for Optimum Return on Investment'

SSEI at the Conference on Systems Engineering Research

SSEI attended and provided technology demonstrations at the 7th Annual Conference on Systems Engineering Research (CSER), from 21st to 22nd April 2009, at Loughborough, see http://cser.lboro.ac.uk/ for more details.

SSEI and MOD Defence Research 2009 Conference

Phase II Results Announced

The results of the Phase II Call for Proposals were announced today and the SSEI would like to congratulate those who were successful. We would also like to thank those who were unsuccessful for their interest and we hope to work with you in the future.

SSEI at IET Systems Safety Conference

The Software Systems Engineering Initiative sponsored the 3rd Institute of Engineering and Technology's Systems Safety Conference in October 2008, an international pan-academic, industry and government event focusing on the development and assurance of safe systems.

SSEI at ESAS 2008

The SSEI presented at the Ministry of Defence's Equipment Safety Assurance Symposium in September 2008, titled "Introducing the Software Systems Engineering Initiative: Improving High-Integrity and Safety-Critical Defence Software Systems Acquisition and Support".
